Dear Winesburg

If you’re looking for folk that is a little more based in its historical roots, then you can look no further than the London-based Dear Winesburg. Their debut album, Dark Water, came out recently and is absolutely marvellous. It might not impress immediately on the first listen but if you give it repeated listens to allow the music to sink in properly you will be rewarded in spades. The title track (all four parts no less) is diverse and never dull, whilst To Let Reply has some pretty outstanding arrangements. You can read more of my praise for their record on For Folk’s Sake, where I did a full review, and you can listen to some of their album cuts on their MySpace.
