A BBC 6 Music protest happened today
On Tuesday we will, after months of protests and outrage, know the fate of BBC 6 Music. Mark Thompson, the BBC’s Director General, wants to cut it (as well as the Asian Network) to make the BBC’s radio output better…which is bizarre given that 6 Music is arguably the best radio station in the country. It’s been said before and it shall be said again – things would be much more dire and less hopeful if a station that can, without any hesitation in the world, follow a Thin Lizzy song with a Public Enemy song is canned. A final rallying cry took place outside the BBC Broadcasting House in central London this afternoon and you can find, on this page, some pretty amazing photos of that protest by ‘seanbjack‘ from Flickr. Do check out the rest of his set as well as the selected photos here.
I guess all we can do now is hope and pray for good news in a few days.
