Red Hot Chili Peppers begin work on new album

Red Hot Chili Pepper

Drummer Chad Smith has revealed that the Red Hot Chili Peppers are finally starting work on a new album, their first since 2006’s Stadium Arcadium. The drummer was speaking to Clash Magazine and elaborated on what stage the band are at and when the new effort might be released:

We’re gonna write for a while, it usually takes us a while… [The release will possibly be] some time next year, maybe this time [next year].

Chad also said that Flea has recently given him a CD of electronic beats for inspiration, following the bassist’s recent involvement with Thom Yorke’s concerts in LA earlier this month. Whether or not the new material will be more electronica-based is currently unknown.

  1. Finally…
    Hell yeah…
    We have waited too long…

  2. Please don’t let it be electronica! Keep Josh Klinghoffer far away from this one!

  3. Ugh. The last double dose of mediocrity was enough.
