Public Enemy go down the fan-funded route

Public Enemy

In news of fans helping out artists, Public Enemy are looking for $250,000 to make a new album. The rap group have signed a deal with SellaBand, a website that allows users to fund projects (a bit like Bandstocks, which Patrick Wolf used to fund The Bachelor) and in return they’ll get a limited numbered copy of the finish album plus a share of the profits (if any). Public Enemy are allowed access to the master tapes of the album, when it’s finished, and they get to choose how to reward fans for purchasing a $25 share. Unsurprisingly, Public Enemy are the biggest band to sign to SellaBand.
