Alex Kapranos talks to NME at Glastonbury

Alex Kapranos

You may not have realised (well, that may well be a lie) but there was a festival on this past weekend called Glastonbury (or under its new title ‘Glas-ton-ber-ry’…I’m sick of this pronunciation) and NME have posted a whole load of video interviews from that weekend. There are many that I could have drawn your attention to but I will stick up the one with Alex Kapranos from Franz Ferdinand, purely because from a television viewer’s point of view I didn’t expect them to be as good as they were. I always thought that Franz Ferdinand weren’t really at their best when they played festivals but their Other Stage headlining performance was way better than Reading three years ago and a worthy challenger to Bruce Springsteen. Anyway, enjoy:

  1. hi max,
how are you supposed to pronounce Glastonbury?
    is it glass-tin-berry
or is it glass-ton-bury (as in to `bury` something)
    etc..

    what`s the correct pronunciation, i`m curious :)

  2. i live in the area
there are different ways of saying it
    some say glast-on-brie
    some say glast-on-berry
i think the correct way is glast-on-bur-rie
(although this may just be due to the somerset accent)
    franz ferdinand were amazing!
