Animal Collective – Summertime Clothes
Nearly a whole six months after its release, I think I can now conclusively say that Merriweather Post Pavillion by Animal Collective isn’t the greatest album of the year, the decade, or even the century so far. I’ve heard records that are quite frankly better. But that isn’t to take anything away from the album as it contains some amazing songs – one of them being the incredibly hyperactive and poppy Summertime Clothes. Last month I showed you the band’s performance on David Letterman’s chat show with the scarily pointless backing dancers in the background and you’ll be pleased to know that they are still there! Needless to say their performance doesn’t seem as pointless in the video as it did on Letterman.

If there is a better “album of 2009″ than MPP I would sure like to hear it. I felt the undertow tugging at me around April to backlash against this album but I’m not going to.
