Vinyl still going strong in 2009

Think that vinyl will be killed off by downloads? Think again. In the US it seems that 2009 could well be another good year for the music format, with sales up 50% through the first five months of the year. Nielsen SoundScan have said that the total number of sales for 2009 could be up from 1.9 million in 2008 to 2.8 million. Even though that the figures are nothing compared to the sale of CDs and downloads it does show that there is still a niche market of people (like me) who still buy vinyl and enjoy listening to it. So, as long as that market remains, vinyl is set to stay.
