Mani

When there ain’t anything in the news that’s exactly new or exciting then what do the media do? Big up a Stone Roses reunion, that’s what. This month it is the turn of Mani to start the rumours with the hinting in his interview with The Sun that if the money was good, there might be something on the cards:

For all the morals and principles that people have, you wave fucking £20m in front of somebody and they change their mind. You’ll see how their philosophies soon change.

In more exciting news, the Festival Republic stage lineups for Reading & Leeds have been announced. You can find the entire list on the festival websites but I am particularly excited about The Big Pink and Pulled Apart By Horses the most. Other high profiles names include La Roux, Marmaduke Duke (the alter ego of Biffy Clyro), The Black Lips and Bombay Bicycle Club. In other news of a similar theme, The View will play the main stage on Saturday at Leeds and Sunday at Reading (booooo!) and El Bronx, the mariachi alter-ego of The Bronx, will open the main stage on the Friday at Leeds and Saturday at Reading (yaaaaaay!).

In other festival news, but perhaps of a more surprising magnitude, Thom Yorke is playing a solo gig at Latitude next month. The Radiohead frontman will be playing at the Obelisk Arena at noon on the Sunday (19th July) and will be a warmup to his band’s headlining performances at Reading and Leeds. Of Montreal, Lykke Li, Fever Ray, Sky Larkin, Camera Obscura and St. Vincent have now all been added to the lineup with the last few tickets still available.

The name of the new Arctic Monkeys album has finally been revealed. Humbug will be released on the 24th August and features ten songs. As revealed last week, the album was produced by Josh Homme and longtime producer James Ford.

Oasis are going to be re-releasing all of their albums on vinyl. The band will be releasing their entire discography in albums from Definitely Maybe all the way through to Dig Out Your Soul through their own Big Brother label. All of the vinyls will be heavyweight vinyl in a new sleeve and with notes written by Hamish McBain from the NME. They’ll be released on the 13th July along with a limited boxset featuring all eight records.

Editors have now announced a full UK tour on the back of their Birmingham show announcement last week. The tour comprises of fifteen dates and will run throughout October. It starts at St George’s Market in Belfast on the 7th before finishing up at the Guildhall in Southampton on the 26th and tickets go onsale for all dates on Friday at 9am.
