Recommend me some Deftones

Deftones

This is the second part of a feature that has so far attained a 100% success ratio. I couple of weeks ago I asked what I was missing out on by not listening to Jane’s Addiction and the answer was a heck of a lot. This week I’ve decided to see if anyone can get me into the world of Deftones. The American rock band is scheduled to play Reading on the Friday on the main stage between Funeral For A Friend and Fall Out Boy in the afternoon/early evening and I, like Jane’s Addiction in the past, have been blissfully unaware of their presence and influence.

The rules are the same as last time (I mean, why change a winning formula?). Recommend me some tracks to find by leaving a comment and, if you can, tell me why you think the song(s) you recommend are amazing. I’ll listen to them a few times and tell you after I’ve done so enough times whether I think they’re good or not so good.

Like this? Try these!

  1. Get Around the Fur and White Pony. The best two albums IMHO. <3 Around the Fur kicks ass from the very first second! Those drums, goddamnit. Crispy.

  2. Get their complete discography if you can – you won’t regret it. If you can’t, then my choice lays down on White Pony and Around The Fur – their best albums yet.

I see you like post-rock. In that case, I’d like to recommend a band called Team Sleep; it is Chino Moreno’s side-project, and they have only one album from 2005. I thought you might like it.
