The Acorn

This isn’t the first time that I’ve spoken about Canadian five-piece The Acorn on The Musical Chairs. I reviewed their debut album, Glory Hope Mountain, back in the autumn of last year, and I finally got the chance to see them last Saturday as they supported Elbow at Wembley Arena. Needless to say they were one of the more impressive support bands I’ve seen in my gigging history – completely unfazed by the large crowd and managing to win new fans in the process. If you haven’t already done so, go and listen to Glory Hope Mountain – it is a beautifully arranged and well constructed album that demands your attention. The band will be back in May for a UK tour that includes an appearance at ATP: The Fans Strike Back and a support slot for Bon Iver at the Brighton Dome.
