Sigur Rós to soundtrack new Neil Jordan film
2009 will be a quiet year for Sigur Rós following their critically acclaimed world tour last year in support of Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust, which was my album of 2008. At least, that’s what the theory would go. Turns out this is not the case. As well as releasing a DVD featuring footage from the Alexandra Palace shows last year, keyboardist Kjartan Sveinsson will be composing new music for the upcoming Neil Jordan film, Ondine, which will also feature music from the band’s back catalogue. The last time the band leant their music towards a film, it contributed to one of the best matches of film and music I’ve ever seen – the final scenes of The Life Aquatic:
