Odds & Ends for 9th January 2009

Ryan Adams is the latest artist to perform a track in a London cab for the Black Cab sessions. That’s not strange at all. What is strange was that, because of Ryan being carsick, he asked for the driver to not erratically. The website says it is definitely one of the stranger requests they’ve had. You can watch an acoustic performance of Sink Ships here.
Lil Wayne, perhaps one of the most overrated stars of 2008, is reportedly ditching hip-hop for rock on his new album. Up and coming hip-hop artist Drake has described the next effort by the Grammy-nominated artists as not just “a rock album,” but “a complete rock album.” The jury is out thus far on this very Kanye-esque music style shift until I hear it.
If you need a DVD recommendation this weekend for the purposes of staying in, I would wholeheartedly recommend Heima by Sigur Rós. I only got the DVD today and watched it late this afternoon and it’s a very different take on the ‘music film’ format. You can view the trailer here.
Next week, the first album review of 2009 thanks to Merriweather Post Pavillion by Animal Collective. Not to forget Franz Ferdinand Day on Thursday. Enjoy your weekend.
