Odds & Ends for 6th January 2009

Glasvegas are currently in the USA promoting their debut album, which has only just been released there this week. As usual the press seem to be lacking hearing aids due to their praises of the dull and turgid LP. All of it, except the LA Times music blog, Pop & Hiss. Their review is the only review of this album that I’ve read that is anywhere close to spot on.
Kraftwerk are now a man down after Florian Schneider has decided to leave the band, which will now carry on without him. The exit has been forecast for some time now after Schneider didn’t perform with the band whilst they toured last year. In a statement on their official website, the band pays tribute to him and describe him as “a great musician, always seeking the perfect sound through technology.”
Lily Allen is still angry with Katy Perry. I lost interest ages ago but apparently if the American pop star annoys Allen once more, her mobile number will be exposed on the Internet. “I have Katy Perry’s number, someone did me a favour [sic]. I’m just waiting for her to open her mouth one more time — then it hits Facebook.” Even if she does post it, do you really think I can be arsed to make a long-distance call to the USA which will cost me lots of money? Nope.
