Odds & Ends: Review Of 2008 (Part 3)

Massive Attack curated the Meltdown festival on London’s South Bank and started and ended the festival with live performances at the Royal Festival Hall. The gigs showcased a mix of old favourites and promising new material. The new LP, which will be their first since 100th Window in 2003, remains highly anticipated.
Radiohead played the shows of the summer at Victoria Park. The dates were the first plart of a UK tour that would stop at Manchester and Glasgow and part of the wider world tour to support In Rainbows. As usual for a Radiohead tour, it was spellbinding with dazzling (and energy saving) lights.
July was the main festival month on The Musical Chairs. I went to the Morrissey-headlined day of O2 Wireless and moaned lots about his headlining performance, whilst I also moaned about the lack of excitement (as usual) for Guilfest and raved about British Sea Power, which only 20 spectators saw.
In other events, Feist appeared on Sesame Street, John Lydon was accussed of racially attacking Kele Okereke and Death Cab For Cutie delighted a fanbase audience at Brixton Academy.
