Odds & Ends for 15th December 2008

The Snowbombing Festival 2009 has added Ladyhawke, The Rumble Strips and James Yuill to the line up. It’s set to take place from the 29th March to the 4th April in Mayrhofen, Austria. Other acts that were previously announced include Dizzee Rascal and Fatboy Slim.
Johnny Marr has confirmed the inevitable – there will be no Smiths reunion. Last Friday, the Daily Mirror seemed almost certain the something would happen but Marr has said in a statement to the NME that it is “as usual, untrue. I’m currently very excited about writing and recording with The Cribs for a new album to be released next summer and we’re playing shows in February, so going back in time isn’t in my plans.
Depeche Mode have completed work on their follow up to 2005′s Playing The Angel. It’s due for release sometime in the new year, which will be supported by a previously-announced summer tour in Europe. Dave Gahan, frontman, said to Pop And Hiss that “we’ve completed the record. There might be a couple of bits and pieces we’ve got to clean up, but I feel really good about the fact that we’re finished.”
