Odds & Ends for 12th December 2008

Feeling

Apologies for the past couple of weeks of slow-ish activity, illness and assignment deadlines combined took their toll on me.

The Feeling have tonight busked in the piazza of Covent Garden. And they thought about their audience. In order to distract passers-by from their tedious and bland Radio 2 dross, they played in front of United Visual Artists’ LED light installation. Awww, aren’t they caring or what?

More acts have been added to Noise Pop 2009 in San Francisco. Stephen Malkmus, St. Vincent, Josh Ritter, Ra Ra Riot, French Kicks, Martha Wainwright, Morning Benders and Submarines will join Antony & The Johnsons among others for the week-long festival in late February.

There’s plenty of musical delights taking place this weekend in the capital. Apocalyptica rock the Astoria tonight with cellos, whilst M83, whose latest album has been rated the best of the year by Drowned In Sound, will play St. Giles Church. The Prodigy will rock the Brixton Academy tonight and tomorrow whilst Coldplay begin their three-night residency at the O2 Arena on Sunday.
