Who are Fleet Foxes?

I’ve read quite a few critics’ end of year lists now and everytime I see one there is always one question that continually bugs me. And no, it’s not why Sigur Rós that low down on the list. The question is this; who the hell are Fleet Foxes? I must have really isolated myself from some media of some sort to not have heard any of their highly acclaimed music. So today I went into research mode and found out some more about them. Apart from being the darlings of the music press, the other things they have going for them include:
- The fact that they’re from Seattle, which has spawned a fair amount of my favourite bands.
- They’re signed to Bella Union in the UK, which as I’ve discussed before on The Musical Chairs as being one of my favourites.
- They describe themselves as ‘baroque harmonic pop jams’.
So the omens are good but I’m still being overly cautious because of all they hype that surround them. Can someone please tell me that this band is worth my time?

I avoided them for that reason too, and then it turned out that their EP and LP were both made of fairy dust, and totally impossible to dislike by anybody.
Yep
