George Lamb insults Ray Davies

Lamb

In April, I finally got things out of my system and ranted about George Lamb, the worst DJ I’ve ever heard. Today, I hope the final curtain falls on his tedious show after he pretty much took the piss out of Ray Davies of the Kinks. I’m no real big fan of his work, but there is no disputing his huge influence amongst artists today, which makes what happened today even more ridiculous. From NME.com:

The Kinks’ Ray Davies was called an “old guffer” by BBC 6Music DJ George Lamb, after he ended a phone interview today (September 30) because of what he claimed was a bad phone line. Lamb had asked Davies questions including “Are you bald?” and “What’s your favourite vowel?” Davies answered the questions before saying the phone line was “terrible”, at which point Lamb suggested he phone Davies back.

The presenter then played The Kinks’ ‘Waterloo Sunset’. At the song’s end Lamb sang along, but changed the lyrics to include “Ray Davies is a moody git”. He then explained that Davies didn’t want to finish the interview.

The DJ continued to lay into Davies throughout the rest of the show, at one point calling him an “old guffer”. He also said that Davies’ bad relationship with his brother and fellow Kinks member Dave Davies would “come back to you and you might die a horrible death”.

When will the BBC finally wake up to the fact that he is a disrespectful, disgraceful and ignorant idiot and sack him from the airwaves? Hopefully, not long.
