Odds & Ends for 12th August 2008

Amy Winehouse is planning to release her Bond song, despite the fact it was rejected by 007 bosses. Why? Because she thinks it’s better than the official song by Jack White & Alicia Keys and wants to prove a point. Winehouse has said to New Magazine “I want to prove they have made a big mistake. I don’t think they could have waited a bit. If they want a worldwide hit, I have them all up here. I guess they are going for clean-cut and boring. When I do release mine – and I am tempted to do it on the same day – this would be the bigger hit. If they change their minds, I am waiting!” She had already tried to record a song with Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi, but both sessions were a miserable failure.
The Zutons are going to embark on a 22-date UK tour at the end of the year, culminating in their biggest ever headlining show at the 10,000 capacity Liverpool Echo Arena on the 19th December. The tour starts at Folkestone on the 10th November. This is in addition to their upcoming V Festival appearances this weekend. This news also, rather handily – funny that, with a new single out on the 8th September called What’s Your Problem, which will come out through Deltasonic. All tour dates are on their website.
Guillemots are the second of five artists announced to play the Orange RockCorps concert at the Royal Albert Hall on the 26th September, following Busta Rhymes, which will be televised on Channel 4.
