Five reasons as to why Nine Inch Nails should tour the UK

1. Their line up consists of a mix of old and new. Representing the old is guitarist Robin Finck, who adds a far heavier type of guitar sound. Representing the new is Justin Meldal-Johnsen, giving the band a diverse edge (he’s previously worked with artists ranging from Beck to Air to Ladytron to Foo Fighters). Representing the in-betweeners are drummer Josh Freese and electronics nerd Alessandro Cortini.
2. Value for money. It looks like they’re on course for shows lasting two and a half hours, way longer than any of their other previous shows.
3. Song choices. The all-round NIN fan will be delighted as the setlist mixes up songs from all the albums. There is no way that it is humanly possible for a fan to leave disappointed.
4. The stage design. It’s far, far, far more ambitious than anything the band has ever attempted before. This taken from a post from Echoing The Sound:
In the back is a wall of rotating lights. 7 squares of 4×4 lights. This thing goes up and down.
Behind it is a large video screen. There’s also 2 video cages. A front cage that curves and a rear cage that curves so they make like an oval.
They both go up and down.
Between the cages were these dangling lights.
Not even the picture above (by Capital M on Flickr – rest of his photos are here) can do it justice.
5. Josh Freese touches the screen at the start of Echoplex. A work of genius or unintentional comedy? You decide!

Isn’t it Josh Freese? I wouldn’t mind seeing NIN here, I watched their Reading performance last year and was very impressed, it certainly seemed to come across better live than on the record I thought.
